It’s all he’s ever known and loved, and he’s continuing the legacy his family built at Ramey Construction, alongside wife Angela. During his childhood, Jason’s uncle, Randy Ramey, was a commercial and custom home builder in the Spokane area, while Jason’s father, Dave Ramey, had his own business in Montana doing light commercial and custom homes. Jason remembers spending his days as a young boy being a laborer for his dad on construction sites. As Jason got older, he progressed into being a carpenter with his dad on his job sites. He worked in Spokane one summer with his uncle in the field as well. “It is what my family has done for multiple generations,” Jason continues. “I remember as a kid going in the hills and logging trees with my dad, mom and brother during the summers. Dad would take the trees and run them through his handmade sawmill and cut dimensional lumber for our house. We did this for several years before we had enough lumber to build our house. As a kid I played in sawdust piles and my backyard looked like a lumber yard.” Jason, who has his Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Montana Tech, worked for the USG (United States Gypsum) Corporation as a project engineer managing industrial construction projects. He moved to Spokane in 1999, where he started working for Ramey Construction, which Randy Ramey started in 1983. In 2008, Jason and his wife purchased the company from his uncle. Most of Ramey Construction’s work over the past 40-plus years has been dental, medical and surgery centers, as well as custom homes. They have also done a lot of office, restaurant, multi-family, industrial and retail buildings. “I think our company culture and versatility set us apart,” Jason explains. “Not many companies are willing to do a large commercial project, custom home and/or remodel. This allows us to establish deep relationships in the community and then service our client on their commercial project or custom home. We also have the ability to do a lot of the work in-house, which allows us to keep critical path schedules going and quality control.” A company founded on the principles of honesty, integrity, passion, quality and empathy, while developing positive leaders, at Ramey Construction, they are passionate about what they do and strive to create a distinct culture of family in everything they do. With more than 80 employees between Idaho and Washington, Jason, Angela and the rest of the Ramey team hope to influence others with their positive attitude and joy for craftsmanship. “Our goals for the future are to maintain our God-given core values and influence our communities in a positive manner,” Jason adds. Though at this point of his career Jason no longer does the physical labor, he says he is blessed to have so many great employees who bring their projects to life. His youngest son now works in the field at their Sandpoint branch, carrying on the family tradition. “My biggest joy comes out of giving somebody a career opportunity and then being a part of them developing their skills, communication tools and leadership abilities,” Jason says. “Watching a young person develop into a competent craftsman and then a confident leader is a rewarding process. I used to physically build structures with my own hands and got satisfaction from that process, but today I get satisfaction from building people.” Serving clients in Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho, with offices in both Spokane, Washington, and Sandpoint, Idaho, if you're looking for a passionate team to build your next commercial project or custom home personalized to your style and vision, you can put your trust in the talented team at Ramey Construction.
