Supporting Local Has Never Been Easier

Chef’s Culinary Classic January 28, 2017 Davenport Hotel

There is nothing better than a meal prepared with love and thought. Twenty five years ago Chef Jim Wolters of Manito Golf and Country Club and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals sought to create an intimate dining experience to raise funds for pediatric health care in the Inland Northwest. This exciting vision has turned into one of the most exclusive and premier dining events in Spokane—the Chef’s Culinary Classic.

If you have been a part of the Chef’s Culinary Classic in the past, then you know they will lavish you with gourmet foods, fine wines and fabulous auction packages. The yearlong menu planning and pairing process is what makes this event so remarkable. Seven carefully thought-out courses of exquisite dishes are paired perfectly with outstanding wines from around the world all for the benefit of children in our community.

At Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital, hearts are being healed, broken bones are being mended and tender care is given to every child who needs it. Be a part of this remarkable event and help make a difference in the lives of tens of thousands of children.

Please mark your calendars for the 25th Annual Chef’s Culinary Classic, presented by The Inland Northwest Culinary Academy, benefiting Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital. Seating is extremely limited to this wine dinner and auction, so purchase your tickets today at Chefs2017.EventBrite.com.

KIDS AT HEART BENEFIT February 28, 2017 Spokane Convention Center

Over the past 10 years, Kids at Heart Benefit has used its funds to purchase high-tech isolettes for at-risk babies in Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, buy a specialized anesthesia machine for their tiniest cardiac patients, help build an entire 24/7 Emergency and Trauma Center just for kids, and entirely refurbish one of their procedure rooms with kid-friendly colors and images, for a more positive hospital experience.

With your participation, they can make this year’s event even better. Have lunch with them, and be a Kid at Heart! Whether you want to host a table and invite nine other “Kids at Heart” or join an open table and meet new friends, there will be plenty of treats and fun awaiting you. There are also opportunities for those interested in volunteering or hosting a table for the event. For those unable to attend the annual luncheon, you can still donate to the children’s hospital.

One of the highlights of the event is when they present the Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital Advocate of the Year Award.

The funds from the 2017 event will go to creating a triage area for their pediatric psych patients, which sadly is a tremendous and increasing need. They want to be able to accommodate more of these children; some as young as 10 years old. Many end up going to the emergency room, so the goal is to have a space immediately available to care for the needs of these children in crisis. There will also be a guest speaker at the event—usually a family or caregiver—who has been personally impacted, sharing their story.

DINE OUT TO FEED SPOKANE March 1-31, 2017 Local Area Restaurants

Programs that help feed Spokane’s hungry have got a friend. It’s called Feed Spokane, a simple concept that brings together an army of volunteers, contributors and resources to distribute more than 800,000 meals annually to those in need of food in the greater Spokane area. In the restaurant and hospitality industry, many occasions arise in which perfectly good—even delicious food—is thrown in the trash because it is left over from an event, or it needs to be eaten right away. These commercial food-service operators just don’t have a way to get it into the hands of those who need it. This is where Feed Spokane enters the picture. Feed Spokane volunteers take the call, pick up the extra food and deliver it to the appropriate charitable feeding program that utilizes each and every drop. It only takes a simple phone call to participate.

Feed Spokane provides food for more than 65,000 free meals to those in need each month! But they need community support to make this happen. One way you can contribute is just by dining out! Feed Spokane holds its Annual Dine out to Feed Spokane during the entire month of March. This benefit raises money to feed the hungry in the Spokane community and brings awareness to Feed Spokane. All month long, a percentage of your meal cost at participating restaurants will be donated to Feed Spokane to help fight hunger in the area.

Five ways you can help Feed Spokane are: Freeze and donate your overage from events or your daily excess. Prepare and donate a regular entrée. Donate surplus equipment or other resources for the various feeding programs supported through Feed Spokane. Sponsor or host a Feed Spokane fundraiser. Participate in Dine Out for Feed Spokane. Then share with others your contributions to this sustainable solution for eliminating hunger through Feed Spokane.

If you have a little extra you would like to contribute to the cause, or just want more information about the programs, visit FeedSpokane.com or call 509.216.7364.
