It’s been more than two decades since friends and owners John Grollmus and Brad Fosseen opened the doors to The Elk Public House in Browne’s Addition. All these years later, and despite the hurdles 2020 brought to the restaurant industry, The Elk remains a staple in the Spokane community that diners continue to flock to.

With a long-standing reputation for delicious food and top-notch service, the staff at The Elk is sure to meet—if not exceed—your expectations each and every time you take a seat at one of their tables. Guests, both young and young at heart, continue to fill the seats and show their unwavering support to John, Brad and their dedicated team. “The Elk appeals to anyone and everyone,” says John. “And we strive to serve our guests the best—every time.”

Consistently good food and atmosphere along with friendly service and menu items offered at a reasonable price keep diners coming back for more. And whether it’s your first date or 50th anniversary, The Elk Public House will treat you to an experience that won’t soon be forgotten. This is what The Elk has delivered year after year to guests since opening its doors in 1999.

Menu favorites among guests include the ever-popular Reuben, the Santa Fe Chicken Sandwich, Mediterranean Grilled Lamb Sandwich and legendary Roasted Corn Pasta. You can also choose from their creative weekly specials and homemade soups, inventive cocktails and great brews.

From maintaining consistency and low employee turnover to their overall goal of delivering the best experience possible to their guests is what John credits to maintaining The Elk’s popularity year after year. In addition, they are willing to adapt when needed, all while keeping what people love consistent.

“We have always tried hard to be open and available to provide for our guests seven days a week, 363 days a year, and the current health crisis has been no exception,” shares John. “We remained dedicated to doing whatever we could to serve our guests, whether it was providing curbside pickup or in-house dining, we were available whenever possible.”

Nearly 22 years into this endeavor, John, Brad and their team are still watching every little detail to be sure they are creating only the best possible experience for their guests.
